Sadie Francis

Hi, my name is Sadie Francis. I am 41 years old. I am a wife, a mother of two, and work full time at Intel Corporation. I am a black/ Hispanic NPC figure competitor. I was adopted at the age of 6 from Colombia, South America and moved to Portland, Oregon not knowing English or my new family. It took me many years to adjust to my new life in this beautiful country. It took me years to realize that my family chose me to love. I didn’t know what love was. I was insecure and always thought that I could at any moment be sent back to Colombia. It took me many years to realize that my family loved me unconditionally and they would never send me back to the orphanage where life was very difficult.

Today words cannot express how thankful I am to be here and to have the opportunities of a lifetime. Never in my dreams would I think that I would have the opportunities to do what I do if it weren't for my parents adopting me. I was an athlete all my life, playing soccer, basketball and running track. I was one of Oregon’s top track and soccer athlete. I loved competing. Never in my life did I ever have an issue with weight. I have 2 wonderful kids that I chase around every day. I got a little too comfortable with my life and became overweight and became depressed. I went from 97 pounds to 150 in a matter of 2 years. I had to do something. I didn't know what to do. I spiraled down this deep dark place that I couldn't get out of and thought of suicide.

I turned to a trainer who had a 12 week program to help people like me. He gave me a meal plan and I started weight training with him on a weekly basis. This weight training transformed my body like I've never seen before. My coach thought I should enter a figure competition. I had no idea what that was. After losing almost 40 pounds in 10 months, I entered my first show at Emerald Cup in 2014, where I placed 4th in my open class and tied for 6th in my Masters class. I was told that that was an impressive win for my first show. Since Emerald Cup is one of the biggest shows in the nation and a national qualifier. I was so excited to see where this would lead me. I was hooked and entered my second show, which was 5 months later in October 18th, 2014 at Seven Feathers Championships in Canyonville, Oregon. That is where I placed 1st in my open class and won overall and also placed 1st in my Masters class and won the overall open. I knew then that I had found my passion.

I was hooked and wanted more. I want my pro card. I want to inspire others not only through the sport but personally. After 7 Feathers, I knew that I wanted to do another run at Emerald Cup before hitting the national stage. I came back with a better package in 2015 and got that overall. I won the overall in the Master class and got 2nd in the Open. Head judge, Sandy Williamson said I was ready for the big stage and that I would get my pro card if I did nationals that same year. With just 3 shows under my belt, I have received 3 Overalls. I decided with my family to take the rest of the year off to grow and to have some quality time with my children and husband who are my biggest fans. I decided in the meantime to get my license in Nutrition to help others like me who struggle with weight. I am a competitor by nature and love the challenge. I survived many obstacles as a child. Being adopted into a bi-racial home and surviving the streets of Colombia at a very young age was not easy. I had no choice but to be a survivor. I love challenges and nothing stops me from reaching my goals. I will be competing on a national level next month with my first show being Masters Nationals in Pittsburgh. I am hoping to bring home another trophy. I have found a new love for this sport. With these wins, I have been fortunate to have sponsors like Quest Nutrition, Egg White International, and Max Muscle to support me on this journey. I just recently won a national contest for Aging Evolution. I was so honored to have the opportunity to enter this contest along with other amazing athletes. I would love to be an ambassador to War Hammer apparel and represent your brand in which I love so much! I know that if I am considered, I will not disappoint. My ultimate goal is to earn that IFBB Professional status in the Figure division.
